Sarah Lasaki was born in Hamburg in 1983. From the age of five, she spent 9 years undergoing classical dance training at the Ballet Center Hamburg-John Neumeier. Various dance styles brought Sarah from Hamburg, Berlin, via Paris, London, New York and Los Angeles to Nigeria.
After several dance jobs / choreographies for music videos (Dante Thomas, Seeed, Nena, Shaggy, Audrey Hannah, etc …), musical engagements (Elton John’s AIDA, Dirty Dancing), an engagement at Schauspielhaus Hamburg (“Suburbio-Das Niemandsland” by Johan Kresnik) and a flamenco dance theater project “Andanza” by Teresa Martin, Sarah went on a world tour for 6 years with the hit show “STOMP”.
Since 2013, Sarah has been working intensively with children and adolescents internationally in the social field through dance and music. 2017 Sarah was part of the ensemble of Yolanda Gutiérrez “Urban Bodies Project“ at the „Theater der Welt Festival”. Sarah Lasaki is currently a permanent member of the Body Rhythm Hamburg Festival, is the Artistic Director of the project “FlüchtLink” by Lukulule e.V. and works with the program “Kultur macht Stark” on various projects. “It has long been my dream to work with children and adolescents as they are honest and inquisitive, and curious. I would like to pass on my many years of experience during the “Stomp“ Tour and the successes in the group. I think that music / dance is a very important area of performing arts and gives children / young people the opportunity to be confident, creative and happy. “
Since 2007 I belong to the team of the successful show “Stomp”. There I learned a lot about rhythm, group dynamics and team spirit and made many exciting as well as demanding experiences. This was very important for my further development: I learned to accept challenges and go beyond my limits. I have grown personally and am as happy as I am proud of this development. It is a wonderful experience, projects of which you are convinced that you are committed to pushing ahead, facing up to a task, pursuing your goals over all the highs and lows, and succeeding. I would like to pass on this experience and the strength that I gained from it to the young and new generation.
